Out of the dreary dream of events that had fallen hard the whole year, out of the black sky unbroken by stars came the moon. It floated in the dark quarter of a window. Seeing its own image reflected back so brightly the muscles of my face break into a smile. The reunion is an end to aloneness, to separateness. The light from the bright circle shines through the drops of snow on the window glass. The white disc hangs silently in the still dark sky. The delight of light. The beauty of darkness. The moment, the mind and all worlds everywhere lit by both.
